There are many choices of ceiling lighting, which can make your decision on which one to buy more difficult. To try and make this easier we have a few tips and suggestions to help you.
If you have more than one room to do focus on one at a time, think about the style of the décor within that room. Is it a modern, traditional or contemporary room?
Think about the finish of the fitting you would like, Chrome, Satin Chrome, Brass, Antique Brass, Black, White there are many to choose from. What finish are your door handles, fireplace and curtain rails? This can help.
When you have decided on those think about your ceiling height, if it is over 8ft you can look at having a fitting that is suspended on a chain or multi layered pendant that will hang down in the ceiling space. If your ceilings are lower than 8ft then look at a semi flush fitting with are usually on a fixed rod. Ceilings lower than 7ft 6in will be more suited to a flush fitting.
The size of the room will determine the size of the fitting you will require. Most fittings come in various sizes, for example 3,5 or12 arm chandelier, the general rule is the more arms the bigger the fitting will be and the more light it will give out. Also think about if you have wall lights and table / floor lamps in the room too.
